Verhoef and TESVOLT OCEAN enter exclusive partnership for clean shipping

Rotterdam, Lübeck, 12 May 2025 – TESVOLT OCEAN, manufacturer of high-performance battery storage solutions for inland and maritime shipping, and Verhoef elektrotechniek, one of the leading Dutch system partners for electrical integration and control in shipping, have entered an exclusive sales and service partnership. This gives Verhoef the exclusive right to distribute TESVOLT OCEAN's battery systems in the Benelux countries and to provide customer service. The partnership combines TESVOLT OCEAN's technological expertise with Verhoef's strong market position in the maritime sector and marks an important step towards promoting clean shipping. The partners will be exhibiting together at the Maritime Industry Fair in Gorinchem, the Netherlands, from 20 to 22 May.

Solution for several problems in the e-propulsion of ships

‘We are very happy that we got the contract and are now authorised to distribute TESVOLT OCEAN's battery systems exclusively in the Benelux. Their energy storage systems are a perfect fit for Verhoef and currently outshine all other systems,’ reports Edwin Naaktgeboren, General Manager of Verhoef. ’The Kaptein series, for example, offers a real solution to a whole range of problems that operators currently face when powering their ships.’

Disruptive battery technology

The battery modules of the modular Kaptein series can be installed individually and at any angle of inclination wherever they fit in the ship. The vibration-resistant storage modules can also be installed on the floor and then walked on. Until now, there has often not been enough space in ships for battery storage systems with sufficient capacity. Thanks to its disruptive technology, the power storage system is characterised by further unique selling points: with a particularly lightweight design, high energy density and a continuous C-rate of 4 C, the Kaptein technology enables the fastest charging times in port. The series was developed for demanding maritime applications in the retrofit and new build sectors.

Milestone for TESVOLT OCEAN

‘The partnership with Verhoef is a milestone on TESVOLT OCEAN's journey. Verhoef has a very strong position in the maritime market,’ explains Kilian Hoffmann, CCO at TESVOLT OCEAN. ‘The demand for our battery systems is very high, and now we can serve it together. Our goal is a long-term collaboration to jointly advance the electrification and decarbonisation of shipping.’

Verhoef will also be responsible for customer service, maintenance and spare parts management. TESVOLT OCEAN will provide technical support and train Verhoef's technical staff so that the Dutch company can guarantee complete end-to-end support for the Benelux market in future.

Verhoef and TESVOLT OCEAN will be presenting their products and services at Maritime Industry 2025, one of the leading trade fairs for inland and maritime shipping.
